Lagos based Pentecostal church, Daystar Christian Centre, on Saturday distributed numerous educational items to less privileged students to help maximize their academic experience in a project called ‘Back To School’. The ‘Back To School’ project catered for over five thousand (5000) beneficiaries from across the state, most of whom are non-members of the church, ahead of resumption. At such a time as this, when Nigeria’s recession is hitting hard on citizens, the timely intervention had eager participants flock the church’s premises on a long queue as early as 6am, in a bid to partake in the program. The excited children could not hide their joy as the items distribution session progressed. Some of the items distributed to everyone included school bags, sandals, socks, math sets, books, pens, cloths, food stuffs, noodles, refreshments and the likes.

Year in, year out, the fast-growing church, headed by Sam Adeyemi, has made it a custom to make a difference where it matters most.
However, according to sources around the management of the crowd was very poor as the children were roaming and struggling to enter the church premises. There was even a news of a stampede in which a boy was carried to LUTH but now in a stable condition. I hope the church would get a cue from and work on a proper people management system.
