Rihanna praised God after her celebrity backup dancer friend was found after the singer used her social media to help locate her.
“God is so merciful!!! Happy you’re alive and safe @shirlenequigley,” the 28-year-old pop star, who follows Christian speaker Joyce Meyer on social media, states.
Shirlene Quigley, the 32-year-old dancer and dance instructor, has performed with the likes of A-list entertainers such as Rihanna, Beyonce and Missy Elliott. According to NBC reports, the North Bergen, New Jersey native went missing at New York City’s Port Authority bus station around 1 a.m. Sunday.
Aside from Rihanna’s Instagram post asking for anyone with information to contact police authorities, rapper Missy Elliott also wrote a call of action in honor of her former dancer. On Wednesday, Elliott also praised God for Quigley being found.
“Thank u God 4 hearing our prayers! We love u @shirlenequigley with all our hearts,” she wrote. “I’m just thankful u are still here with us today.” (SIC)
Other celebrities like actress Meagan Good also decided to thank God that Quigley was found safe.
“PRAISE GOD,” Good captioned an image of Quigley on Instagram. “Thank you Jesus.”
Although details have yet to be released about what happened to Quigley, the North Bergen Police Department did reveal that she was taken to a medical facility after she was found. The department wrote an Instagram message about being touched by the story of Quigley.
“We are beyond pleased this situation has come to a successful conclusion. The outpour of concern and assistance from the community and celebrities alike was quite touching,” the police department wrote. “We could not have done it without their help. The North Bergen Police Department wishes Shirlene health, happiness and success in all of her future endeavors.”
The dancer, who attends church in Brooklyn, New York, took to her own social media account to both thank police officers and thank God.
“GOD is so good… special unconditional thank you to our NYPD who literally served and protected… we are so blessed beyond measure to have people like these gentleman who put their lives on the line daily to help us…,” she wrote. “I am spending time with family and will return to the dance floor Monday… words cannot express the joy and gratitude my souls feels.”
