FOCUS ON THE BIG PICTURE OF YOUR LIFE.

I once read a story of a very successful businessman  who, out of frustration, jumped down from his high rise office building. He died immediately.  I also recently heard of a very famous songstress who mysteriously died in her hotel room. Many said she committed suicide.

Now what could possibly lead to all of that? With all their material successes and fame, why would they take their life?

Deep down in the heart of every human is the burning desire for fulfilment in life. This longing and consequent quest for it is the motivation behind most of our actions and accumulations. But in the process of that search, many people have discovered that money,  material possessions, fame and power alone could not satisfy that inner yearning.

We are here on earth for a purpose. That purpose is unique to every individual and is ingrained in our very being. Untill we discover that purpose and begin to walk in it, life will be devoid of fulfilment. No matter the level of success we may attract from doing other things, outside our purpose, there will always be an emptiness in our heart whispering to us that something is still missing. It is that emptiness and the effort to fill it that drives most uninformed people into drugs, liquor, promiscuity, materialism etc. But it all still ends in frustration. That emptiness can only be filled by discovering and fulfilling purpose.

Your purpose is the big picture of your life. It is the very reason of your existence. Therefore, all of your actions and decisions in the course of your sojourn on earth are supposed to be motivated by your purpose for maximum fulfilment.

This purpose is not necessarily your conventional career. It is a higher calling, a divine mandate that you have been designed and adequately equipped to carry out and be a blessing to humanity, to the glory of God. Your career may just be the platform that gives you the voice, privilege or opportunity to fulfil that higher cause. In other word, your career is just a means to an end and not an end in itself.

When you discover your purpose and begin to pursue it, your life will be simplified, focused,  exciting and fulfilled. The best life to live is the life that is lived within the confines of your life purpose.

Are you there yet?
